Benefits of having a kid.

So, having a kid is fun and all.  But, having a kid is AWESOME at Halloween.  Especially when the kid has no opinions about his costume and especially when your last name is Pope and the current Pope happens to be fantastic.

I was very proud of my first homemade kid's costume and smugly judged all of the other costumes at this year's Halloween trick-or-treating extravaganza.  (I don't know how many we had, but I'm guessing that we had around 600-700 trick-or-treaters.)  All of the other kids came up short.  Milo Pope as Pope Milo won top prize.  (Obama would have loved Milo!)

I deemed Milo's first holiday as a huge success.

In fact, the fun never stops in Klamath Falls and Randal has been very busy improving the downtown.  He's been painting the building like a madman, although he recently had to slow down, since the temperature have dipped a little too low to powerwash and paint a giant building.

I even helped paint one afternoon, although the amount that I completed compared to the amount that he completed was pretty miniscule.  I did the bottom orange part in this picture.

As a reward, the amazing pizza place next door made me a 10 inch cookie.  It came in a pizza box.  If you were wondering how long it would take a person to eat a 10 inch cookie, I now know.  3 days.  It was a really good cookie.

Have you ever had a cookie come in a pizza box?  This is another reason why Klamath is great.
Randal might get more done when I'm not around tempting people with cookies though, so it only took another week before the building looked like this.  Isn't it fantastic?!  Now we just have to complete two sides and the back.  Easy peasy.

Milo continues to grow.  At his appointment last week, he was in the 96th percentile in weight, which I consider a huge success.  (Another totally arbitrary success, but I'll take it.)  He also tested in the 99th percentile for IQ, sense of humor, and good looks.  Well done, Milo.

Last week, Randal, Milo and I did a newborn photoshoot.  It went pretty well, I think.  Kenny, our fantastic friend and former photographer, did it for us in return for brownies, wine and beer.  I'm quite pleased with how they turned out and am glad that Alicia convinced me to do a shoot months ago.  Evidently, when one has a kid, one gets much more into "adorable" photoshoots.  Goodness gracious.

The weather has turned cool in Klamath and the leaves are dropping.  This has been one of the strangest and best autumns I've ever had.

By the way, happy Election Day: a holiday that is totally unaffected by kids and still remains one of my very favorite as well.
