Sweet dreams?

Day two has commenced in our grand adventure.

For those who don’t know, we decided to get to Oregon by hook or by crook. After cancelling plane tickets to visit our old home for the second time this summer (thanks covid), we had a lengthy discussion about whether or not we wanted to DRIVE to Oregon.

It would never work if we drove a regular car: the restaurants, the hotels, the inability to pee on the road. So, it had to be an RV. And then, when we finally decided that we wanted to go on this trip, we had to find an RV. Which is no small feat, since there are a LOT of people who had the same idea that we did.

We were so lucky to get one. The local dealership got a new (to them) one days before we were scheduled to leave and got it ready just in time for us to pick it up yesterday. And so we picked up our 2020 Coachmen Leprauchaun and spent a hot, rushed day trying to pack it with everything we might need for the next three weeks.

We are headed to Klamath, but plan to take a week to get there. We are headed to the Badlands now, then onto Yellowstone, then Idaho and eastern Oregon, before spending a week and half in KFalls for a week and a half before heading home via the shortest route. We plan on getting home around the 19th, but have the RV for a month, so have some flexibility.

The kids love it. Milo announced to Marian when we were pulling out that we were driving a house AND “we can pee in this house!” They were so excited last night that sleep was was hard to find last night, especially for Marian. She is sleeping on the table that turns into a bed and we put bumpers around it to keep her in. At 3:30am, I woke up and checked on her, paranoid that she had fallen out of bed. She was safe and sound on her table bed.

At 7am, this is where I found her...

So much for that.

Thus far, we have eaten dinner at a pull off off the interstate and slept in a Cracker Barrel parking lot, so the scenery hasn’t been great. (And we sound like hobos.) Here’s a view of our first “hike” this morning.

But, we are having SO much fun. We love our house on wheels and can’t wait for the adventure to come!
