This is trip is nothing if not an opportunity to practice my Italian!
We arrived safely yesterday afternoon after a long day of travel. The flights were smooth (hooray!) and everyone did well. The kids slept a lot on the plane - something about being able to lay horizontal with laps as pillows is more comfortable than sitting upright all night long.
Mom had booked a chauffeur for us- so we were happy to be greeted by a dapper Italian man with the “Kenda Jochim” sign who took us to the train station. The trains have been updated in the past decade and they were lovely as ever. Our connection in Verona was delayed, so I used my 20 year old train map memory and rushed us to another platform to hop on a train that left moments later. Randal said, “are you sure this stops at Trento?”
“90% sure. 80% sure. Pretty sure.”
Fortunately, my hunch was good as our previously scheduled train ended up being cancelled and we arrived on schedule to be greeted by Charles, Josephine, and Maria Assunta. Trento is as beautiful as ever!
It feels like going home to be back on Vigolo in the Jochim/Fauri home. Elisabetta made delicious dinner and the kids were so happy to have more kids to play with. Today, we introduce randal to the magic of this town. I’m excited.
Here are some pictures of our travels. Limited- because I was too tired at the end of the day to take photos!
