Let's pretend it's January.

Happy New Year!

January was an eventful month without a blog update, so we'll pretend it's mid-January and catch up.  So much news continues to pour forth from Klamath Falls, but we'll take it one month at a time.

Snow has been dismal in Klamath Falls this year and our county commissioners have already declared an emergency state of drought for the year.  Ranchers and farmers are already in trouble as much of the water comes from Crater Lake snow melt and we're at less than a fifth of average rainfall.

This means that Randal and I really have to take advantage of any snow that we get.  Hence our two-faced snowman.  One face so that the cars could drive by and see him.  The other so that our neighbor, Betty, Randal and I could say hello to him.  Incidentally, he lasted for several weeks...  Longer than the rest of the neighborhood snowmen.  Until when he was only about a foot tall, two neighbor boys kicked him in.  We know this because their mother made them come over and apologize for kicking in a 1 foot pile of snow in our front yard.

Pacific Terrace...  a far cry from Baltimore.

To backtrack just a bit...  We went to Portland for New Year's Eve and saw friends from Baltimore.  We also celebrated Randal's 30th birthday!  Yay 30s!

Pete, Randal and I eat Randal's birthday pumpkin pie.

First day of 2014 is a great one.  We enjoy Heather, Andrea, and Pete and play in Portland!

Randal's 30th!  We went to Seattle for a couple of nights.  Great food!  Great company!

And the train ride home was wonderful.  Starlight Express.  We highly recommend it.
And that brings us through mid-January.

January highlights include...  fun times with our two dogs.  Stephanie and I wait to hear about our big grant and now work from our temporary office.  Randal and I start to work on a hall/bedroom/bathroom remodel.  And the most exciting news...  We bought a building downtown!

More pictures to come.

P.S. We went to a local crab feed last night.  Awesome.
