Life is full; life is good.

It has been a full month and there have been a lot of ups and downs.

Today, we will focus on the ups.

Our baby turned two last week and we had a wonderful birthday celebration.  She got a new president for her birthday and it was just what she wanted, so we were all happy.

Marian is a spunky delight.  She has a distinct stinkeye and her moods can turn on a dime.  (I am told that she takes after me more than her dad.)  She can throw a tantrum and kick around on the floor and she can throw rocks in the creek and kick her shoes off just as well.  Her language is spectacular and she seems much older than two years in both abstract concepts and vocabulary.  (For example, "A raindrop just fell on my head." "I played with my friends at school yesterday."). She plays with toys and the running commentary is fascinating, "Oh baby!  Are you okay?  Yes!  I am okay.  I fell down.  It's time to eat.  Do you like your food?  Yes.  I like my food!  Yum!" - sometimes doing different voices for each character.  She is passionate about books and will memorize certain sections, "reading" them aloud to us.  She loves to sing and can sing a myriad of songs including her ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle, Soft Kitty (from The Big Bang Theory), You Are My Sunshine, and more.  She is funny and teases all of us.  She loves her brother, and her dad, her grandparents, her mom and sometimes the dogs.  She stomps in puddles and makes messes.  She laughs and laughs.  She delights us daily.

Milo was so excited to give his present to Marian this year.  It was the best.

And in other news, Mom and I are both volunteering to administer COVID vaccines in Greene County.  In the midst of this pandemic, it is gift to work alongside my mother.  It is also remarkable how similar our nursing demeanor is, despite never having worked together before.  This opportunity also enabled us to get our own vaccines and we are so grateful for science and public health.  How lucky we are.

Stay safe.  Stay healthy.  Find joy.  Wear a mask.
